SPRING 1883 | ART FAIR

Exploring the theatricality of the Baroque reimagined through a contemporary lens of critical reinterpretation. The selected works embrace excess, movement, and ornamentation while remaining firmly rooted in present-day conceptual and material languages. What emerges is a dynamic interplaybetween grandeur and restraint, academic rigor and playful surface,and asacred opulence and secular irony. Visual and formal elements draw from the Baroque’s deep well of sensory drama: jewel-toned palettes, high contrast, chiaroscuro lighting, and elaborate motifs are rendered through a contemporary language; reframed them to probe spectacle and simulation, identity and artifice,power and performance. Theatrical and cerebral, plush and precise, ornament is posited not as excess, but inquiry with beauty, in all its layered contradictions, as a critical tool.
